Lion Electric Digital Dashboard and Embedded Touchscreen

Lion Electric set out to design the dashboard and touchscreen interface for the Lion8, its first 100% electric truck designed and manufactured in Quebec. The goal: to create modern, distinctive interfaces capable of competing with market leaders (e.g., Tesla) while providing a simple, intuitive experience for drivers who may be unfamiliar with new technologies.
In collaboration with Lion Electric’s teams and their international partners, we designed interfaces that meet the standards of the most innovative brands. The objective was to deliver a unique driving experience that reinforces Lion’s brand identity while seamlessly integrating the essential features for driving. The Lion8 screens combine modern design with ease of use, standing out clearly in the truck market.
Turning Embedded Technology into an Accessible Driving Experience
A Clear View of Energy Performance
The home screen displays key data on energy consumption, regeneration, and remaining range at a glance. An interactive graph allows users to track performance over various timeframes, while a visual indicator, such as the ecoLion driving score, helps drivers adjust their habits to optimize energy efficiency.
Clear and Comprehensive Charging Management
The charging interface gives drivers a quick overview of the battery’s status and the current charging session. Added range, current intensity, available capacity, and charging station voltage are presented clearly for immediate reading. The battery indicator and remaining charging time make trip planning easier, while the clean design ensures intuitive use even for those less familiar with electric vehicle technology.
Simplified Mechanical Status Control
An interactive maintenance module displays the health of each vehicle system using a clear color code and a 3D visualization of the truck. Drivers can quickly identify the source of a problem and communicate effectively with technical teams. This system streamlines diagnostics, reduces downtime, and contributes to the longevity of both mechanical and electrical components.
Coordination and Leadership in a Complex Context
The project presented significant complexity, with strict technical constraints linked to the embedded hardware, tight delivery deadlines, and coordination between multiple suppliers across different time zones. Thanks to our leadership and well-structured collaborative approach, we navigated these challenges effectively, ensuring clear communication and steady progress toward the project’s goals.

The interface delivers a more intuitive and safer driving experience, while reflecting Lion Electric’s innovative spirit. It enables quick access to essential information, improves energy performance management, and reduces errors associated with technological complexity.
